 About the Society

Uttar Pradesh Orthopaedic Association (https://www.upoa.net/) is at present the largest chapter of Indian Orthopaedic Association with more than 1800 members.. The Uttar Pradesh Chapter of Indian Orthopaedic Association was born in 1977 at Lucknow. The inaugural conference of UP Chapter of Indian Orthopaedic Association was held at KG Medical College, Lucknow on 28th February and 1st March 1977 with the blessings of Prof. B.N. Sinha. All the 40 surgeons who attended were made the founder members of UP Chapter. Prof. B.N. Sinha nominated Prof. A.K. Gupta of Kanpur as President, Dr. A.N. Srivastava of Lucknow as Secretary and Dr. K.P Srivastava of Agra as Treasurer.

  About the Journal

Journal of Bone and Joint Diseases (JBJD) is official Journal of UP Orthopaedic Association. It is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal. The stress is on latest research in the field of Orthopaedics including aetiopathology, clinical and radiographic outcomes, surgical technique and implant design, biomechanics, and biomaterials. There are two main Aims of JBJD; to produce a body of literature that is clinically relevant and to make this knowledge freely accessible to all. Journals have shown a trend to move towards a more rigid framework of scientific publications, meanwhile losing the focus that Journals are meant to directly influence and improve patient care. Charging for downloading articles imposes another limitation on dispersion and use of knowledge. JBJD intends to counter these two issues by creating a journal that is intelligent, interactive, and clinically relevant and at the same time completely Open Access. The Journal of Bone and Joint Diseases was first published in 1995 and will now continue as three issues per year, online and print journal. The online version will be an open access source. The journal publishes original articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, instructional lectures, case reports, technical notes and letters to the editor.

This is an open access journal, and articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 License, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

Journal of Bone and Joint Diseases (JBJD) is an official publication of Uttar Pradesh Orthopaedic Association. There is no article processing charges and journal follows all the steps of peer review process. JBJD publishes evidence-based research that not only includes original research articles but also authentic case reports, review articles and editorials. We follow strict standards of plagiarism. Since it is a specialty journal, authors can submit their work in different sub-specialities as well as basic sciences related to Orthopaedic surgery.

The journal follows standards of excellence and high quality in all aspects.
We publish three issues per year which are online as well as in print format. The PDF archives of all the previous issues upto 2011 are available on the journal's website.

Quality research works from anywhere in the world are welcome and considered on the basis of their merits. All the manuscripts have to undergo a blinded peer review by experts. Papers are judged by the quality and content and relevance of the work. We aim to publish best research in the field of Orthopaedic surgery.
